I ate, drank, and my lipstick still stayed in place, I was really impressed that I had to use makeup remover on my lips when I got home to get into the shower. One comment I must make though, it won't skimp if you don't stick to the?routine. Another night my lips were not clean, might have still had some traces of gloss on when I just swished over one coat of another MAC lipstick (Satin Lipstick in 'Brave') instead of applying, blotting and reapplying, then added Lipcote, it started to come off in particles in the middle of dinner. However, use Lipcote right, and it will be one of the best lipstick saving products you'll ever try!

Baseball Blogger Offers Insight into his Skin Cancer ... - population-we

Summer begins to wind down as the baseball season enters its final weeks. This summer players and fans have endured several days of record temperatures. There is one group of players that offers a message of additional caution needed for those out in the sun.

Dallas Braden of the Oakland Athletics was the spokesperson for Play Sun Smart in 2011 when I first heard of the program. Play Sun Smart is a joint effort between the American Academy of Dermatology, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association. Their mission is to raise skin cancer awareness and to promote sun-safe practices. Braden had a close tie to the cause after losing his mother to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.

The 2012 spokesperson for Play Sun Smart is MLB Hall of Fame member Johnny Bench, who was one of my childhood heroes. Bench brings his own story to the cause after being diagnosed and treated for basal cell carcinoma, which is the most common type of skin cancer. In June, Bench was helping raise skin cancer awareness in New York while meeting with youth from the Harlem RBI program. It is very important to spread the message to all ages so being sun smart is part of every one's daily life.

The message Play Sun Smart has special meaning to me because seven years ago I was diagnosed and treated for melanoma. I was concerned about a growth on my right pectoral and my doctor at the time wasn't concerned about it. But I wasn't convinced and made an appointment with another doctor in the practice and got a referral to see a dermatologist. It turned out to be a melanoma and took two surgeries to remove all traces of it.

Initially I had follow ups with my dermatologist every four months and have had multiple moles and spots of concern removed over those first few years. Some had abnormal cells that were deemed to be precancerous. Luckily it has been a couple years since any biopsies have been necessary as I now see my dermatologist twice a year. The last check up was the last week of July and I gave a relieved exhale as I left the appointment.

My body is riddled with numerous scars that it looks like I was caught in the cross fire at the OK Corral. Yet I would trade any number of scars in exchange for more time with my daughters. In the meantime, I also try to be sun smart and where sun block and minimize my sun exposure as much as possible. I got a new straw hat for Father's Day and it was one of the best gifts ever.

Play Sun Smart?is just one of many charities that MLB has ties to but it is the one that means the most to me. The importance of their message cannot be stressed enough. It may be fun in the sun but you have to be smart about how you do it.

India's Sahara Group Ordered Massive Refund to Small Investors

India's Sahara group has been ordered by the country's top court to refund investors 174b rupees (?1.9b) raised illegally by the company.

The Supreme Court ordered the group to pay back the money it had raised through optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCDs), with 15 percent interest from the day the amount was paid.

The group, which has business interests in sectors ranging from financial services to media, housing and sports, owns the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and the Plaza Hotel in New York.

The court said in its verdict that the group had clearly gone against the mandates and authorised the market regulator Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to seize the group's assets should it default on the repayments.

"Saharas have no right to collect Rs 27,000 crore [?30.6b] from three crore [30 million] investors without complying with any regulatory provisions contained in the Companies Act, SEBI Act, Rules and Regulations," said Judge K S Radhakrishnan in his order.

In 2010, SEBI had accused Sahara of violating the offer terms and ordered it to pay back the investors, rejecting the group's claims of the fund not being governed by the rules for public issues. The group had appealed to the Supreme Court after the Securities Appellate Terminal (SAT) also upheld the SEBI order.

Jagannadham Thunuguntla, chief strategist at SMC?Global Securities Ltd, told Bloomberg that the verdict could affect the group's growth plans.

"It will be challenging times for the group," he said. "They may need to shelve their expansion plans in retail and housing businesses for the next couple of years."

The group, in an email statement said that it had honoured all the norms of fund raising and that it will make the payments promptly.

Consumer activists have been protesting for months against Sahara, alleging that the company's powerful media presence had led investors to blindly trust it.?

Is it really an iPad 4G if it can't connect to a 4G network?

In Australia, Apple is defending the 4G designation on its new iPad, despite complaints from the?Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

In Australia, Apple brands its top-selling tablet the "iPad Wifi + 4G," a designation that seems to imply that the device will connect to a 4G signal. But as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recently pointed out, the iPad is not actually compatible with any of the 4G networks down under. This week, the issue made its way to an Australian federal court, which will decide whether or not Apple misled consumers.?

According to the Australian newspaper, Apple has already agreed to issue refunds to shoppers who expected the new iPad to connect to the 4G network provided by local provider Telstra. But the company promised to fight the allegations from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and refused to remove the 4G moniker from the device.?

The phrase 4G, Apple said in a statement, "conveys to consumers in Australia that the iPad with WiFi + 4G will deliver a superior level of service in terms of data transfer speed (consistent with accepted industry and regulatory use of that term), and not that the iPad with WiFi + 4G is compatible with any particular network technology promoted by a particular mobile service provider in Australia."

In other words, 4G is not a matter of any specific network, but a matter of speed.?

In a smart post over at ZD Net, Zack Whittaker breaks down the reason the iPad won't work on 4G networks outside the US and Canada.?

The new iPad, he writes, only works "on the 700Mhz and the 2100Mhz bands of the mobile spectrum. Other countries have already allocated their wireless spectrum to other things ? like in the UK, the 700Mhz band is reserved for free-to-air digital Freeview television, and similarly in Australia, the band is used for analogue television.?UK customers are doubly out of luck, because the wireless spectrum designated for?4G LTE services hasn?t been divided up yet."?

New BeoPlay V1 shows up ahead of time, hearts and wallets flutter

We're more used to phones getting leaked ahead of time, but it's not always just the latest and greatest handset that sneaks its way into our inbox. Danish website Recordere has managed to get a cheeky glimpse of the new BeoPlay V1 TV from Bang and Olufsen. Pegged as the new "affordable" model from the Scandinavian manufacturer, it'll come in two flavors: the BeoPlay V1-32 and V1-40 (the numbers representing screen size,) which include DLNA functionality, five HDMI ports, one USB, and integrated 5.1 surround sound, as well as a few other treats. The official launch is the 5th of May, with pricing set at €2,399 and €2,899 (about $3,170 and $3,831 respectively) depending how big the space in your front room is.
